Imagine a safari in the Kruger National Park,

smell, feel and hear the sounds of the big five within the majestic African Bush.

An experience impossible to forget!

Kruger Park Bush walk

Bushwalks in the Kruger National Park

Joining a Bushwalk is an experience you'll never forget. See and hear the bush up close as qualified and armed game rangers lead you on these once in a lifetime tours.

The early morning walk which leaves before dawn. You must be up and ready well before sunrise. It's hard getting up that early, but the bushwalks are definitely worth the effort!
You will leave Rest Camp before the gates open to regular traffic. You'll leave the rest camp in darkness on a special open-sided four wheel drive. You'll travel on roads that aren't open to regular park visitors. You might be lucky and spot a few nocturnal animals on the way to the walking trail starting off point, such as spring hares and bushbabies.

Another kind of bushwalk is the afternoon walk. When theKruger National Park wildlife walk starts you walk single file behind the rangers at a relaxed pace. It's a daunting feeling being last in the line. Who knows what's behind you! The most amazing thing you'll find out on a game walk is how noisy the bush is! Insects chirping, birds singing, baboons barking. The rangers will tell you what the animal calls mean.
You'll never forget hearing mopani worms eat! If you can find them Munching on every leaf of a tree. The sound of chewing is so loud, first you will think that the tree is making the noise!
The walk itself is relaxed and the guests are led by a qualified and armed game ranger who share their intimate knowledge of the bushveld and wildlife. Up to 8 guests are taken to interesting places in the surrounding wilderness areas adjacent to most of the camps

Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes or boots, clothing applicable to the prevailing weather conditions and bring your  camera and/or binoculars.

be considering a walk instead?

Well… here are some reasons why it’s great to step out of the vehicle once in a while.

First of all these are gentle informative strolls not forced marches or long tiring hikes. You don’t have to be mega fit, guides can tailor the pace and distance to suit their guests. Walks can also be combined with other activities like spending time in a game viewing hide or can be little excursions during a game drive to investigate something interesting.

Walking in the bush gives you the opportunity to experience Africa from the ground,  in the safe hands of your professional guide. You feel the bush rather than simply observe it. You’re in the animals’ domain, experiencing the world on their terms. It’s exciting!

The small details that are overlooked on game drives become more apparent from the slower pace and lower angle of being on foot. The amazing engineering skills and cooperative work involved in the creation of a termite mound, for instance. Bird calls, tracks, insects, plants, geology; everything takes on more significance and you gain a much deeper understanding of your environment.

Safari walks enhance your awareness and knowledge of what is going on around you as you are engaging all five senses on a heightened level. The tempting smell of wild sage, the velvety feel of an acacia seed pod, the fibrous taste of mother-in-law’s tongue root, the wind-like sounds of an enormous flocks of quelea, the thrilling sight of spotting big game at eye level – it’s exhilarating.

Bush walks take you to places inaccessible to vehicles, enabling you to experience and interact with your surroundings in a more rounded way. Whether it’s appreciating a particularly fabulous panorama, studying a gnarled baobab up close or spending time in an ancient cave dwelling studying ancient rock art, all these experiences are only possible on foot.

Your knowledge of the bush will also be boosted by some fascinating facts for instance the medicinal use of plants, bush survival skills, tracking, geology, local folklore and historical info.

Just as importantly, walks can also be lots of fun – playing detective to try and work out which creature might have made the tracks in the sand. One can also try guess the types of animal dung and if you’re really brave engaging in the local sport of impala dung spitting! A good guide brings all this to life and it’s really satisfying to see what you can work out for yourself.

Last but not least, safari walks are good for the soul! Reconnecting with the wild has been proven be essential for human wellbeing. So what are you waiting for?

Then there is one of the most adventurous walks……the Riverwalk ,It’s a 2 hours walk 9:30-11:30am

The animals you will maybe meet will be the Elephant, Lion, Hippopotamus, Nile Crocodile and we hope that you will see the majestic Martial Eagle, which is one of the bird 6.

The river walk that traces the handsome spine of the river is one of the more unique and rewarding bush walk experiences available in the park.
